Review & Description

19 years ago, when I had my first child I swore that if I did nothing else in this world, I was going to raise her to be a happy, positive, successful human being. I read every book I could find on the topic. So many parenting books gave conflicting advice. A lot of it was geared towards just the day-to-day business of managing feedings and setting bedtimes. Nowhere could I find advice on how to raise her to be happy... how to teach her that she was in control of her own destiny... how to keep her from falling into self-destructive habits.

Now, Alison is a college freshman, excelling in her classes and excited about life. She takes joy in the little everyday things. She smiles frequently and when she does, she lights up a whole room! Even better... we made it through the turbulent teens and came out the other side as friends! I get texts from her daily telling me about the little, fun things she is doing and I know... I did it!

Now her six brothers and sisters (yup, you added right, I have seven children) are following right along in her footsteps. I hear constantly how much people enjoy being around my children. They're certainly not perfect, but they ARE positive, hard-working, persistent and just all around goofballs!

Isn't that what you want for your children? (Well, maybe not the goofball part... but honestly, it's a lot of fun in our house!)

Where did I learn how to raise children that people actually *like* being around? Well, it wasn't from most of the parenting books I read! Did you know that there are parenting books out there that actually tell parents to withhold love and affection from their children to shame them into behaving? To slap their hands and spank them when they exhibit age-appropriate behaviors that are a part of normal childhood development?

Oddly enough, the principles that I use in raising my children... the basic, core beliefs that I use to guide my parenting decisions... came from BUSINESS and SALES books! As a teen, I babysat for an insurance salesman and his wife. After the children were in bed and the kitchen was cleaned up, I loved to read... and their bookshelf was filled with the gurus of sales and positive thinking!

As I got older, I added to that study in the field of child development... I taught preschool, nannied, and eventually became not only a nurse (RN), but a Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN).

IN THIS BOOK YOU WILL LEARN:
* The Law of Sowing and Reaping (also known as the Law of Cause and Effect)
How to use this law in your own life to set a positive example for your children to follow
* Why what you think and how you explain events in your life is critical for achieving success... for both you and your children
* How to apply this law to different ages and stages of child development... from newborns to young adults
* Activities you can do and books you can read with your children to teach them that they really do have the ability to make a positive difference in their lives, their communities and the world!

This book is the first in a five book series (Teaching Your Children the Laws of Life) that will completely change how you think about parenting.

Because as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis once said: "If you bungle raising your children, I don't think whatever else you do well matters very much."19 years ago, when I had my first child I swore that if I did nothing else in this world, I was going to raise her to be a happy, positive, successful human being.
